Amino Acids and There Sources

Author: Yuri // Category:

Proteins are made up of amino acids and different proteins contain different proportions of the various amino acids.

There are in all 23 amino acids in food proteins. Out of these, there are 10 that the human body cannot synthesize: arginine, histidine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophane and valine. These are, therefore, called essential amino acids.
The body must be supplied with the requisite amounts of these amino acids through food. The rest of the amino acids can be synthesized by the body from these.

6 Quick Tips to Avoid Getting Sick and What to Do If You Do

Author: Yuri // Category:

This is the time of year that colds and flu often hit the best of us with everything they've got. Here are a few tips to fight back with and avoid getting sick in the first place.

1. Drink plenty of water, add a little lemon to help balance the pH and keep your body in good shape to fight off what might try to invade. Add some stevia extract if you don't like plain lemon water and make it into healthy lemonade.

Pine Apples

2. Probiotics are essential. These little guys will help to keep the colon healthy which is crucial to prevent sickness by supporting the quick removal of viruses and bacteria. It is also believed that probiotics play a critical role in the proper functioning of the immune system by producing certain vitamins.

3. Certain essential oils such as lavender and tea tree are wonderful for warding off viruses and bacteria. Diffusing these may help to prevent a cold or flu from occurring and can help to fight one once it has occurred.

While these work quite often they don't work every time. Sometimes, no matter how well prepared you are, you are going to get sick so here are some tips if you do to lessen the severity of symptoms and reduce the amount of time you are sick.

4. The old saying, "feed a cold, starve a fever" actually means "If you feed a cold, you will need to starve a fever". The fact is, you are ill because of congestion. The best way to remove the congestion is to stop eating. You certainly wouldn't keep shoving food down a garbage disposal that is all clogged up. Drink lots and lots of water and drink fresh fruit juices, vegetable juices or broth and teas if you become hungry.

5. Let a fever be. Don't try to lower it unless it becomes dangerous or is uncomfortable for an extended period of time leading you to lose sleep. Fevers are designed to burn the offending invaders and help you get well sooner. So reducing a low grade fever may do you more harm than good. Of course, if the fever is high (over 102 in an adult or 103 in a child) or has been going on for more than a few hours without a single dip, then you will want to consider lowering it.

6. There are many herbs and other supplements that can honestly help you to get over an illness faster. The key is to take them soon (when you first notice you are getting sick) and take them often (every 2 to 3 hours).

Even during the plagues, there were individuals that managed to stay healthy. Keep these tips in mind and your friends, family and co-workers may be asking how you manage not to get sick when they all are.

What Does the Pineapple Symbolize?

Author: Yuri // Category: ,

The influence of the pineapple fruit is apparent in the enchanting array of decorations available that use the pineapple form as part of its creation. We hear of architectural elements like pineapple pedestals, pineapple brackets and corbels as well as pineapple wall sculptures, and of its use in the kitchen in the form of pineapple napkin holders and trivets as well as bookends to grace your desk and library with hospitality and an air of friendliness and warmth. The pineapple has indeed a colorful history spanning from colonial times and is today heralded as the princess of fruits and credited as the symbol of hospitality and welcome. To give the pineapple as a gift conveys your intention to promote friendliness and graciousness to the recipient. The pineapple began initially as the fruit of the wealthy and guests were revered and charmed when a pineapple was placed amidst their presence in the dining area for that indicated the amount of respect and consideration the hostess besot upon them. Colonial America drew a refreshing and inspiring means in using the pineapple motif in indulging their guests to the table and for a night spent at their home. Fresh pineapples were welcomed and appreciated as an expensive dessert for guests while the thought of spending time in a room heavily decorated with pineapple designs in the bedposts or headboards were considered luxurious and gratifying.

The Origin of the Pineapple: The pineapple fruit may have originated from Brazil and Paraguay in South America where it reportedly received a boost into the European markets through Christopher Columbus who discovered the pineapple fruit in Guadeloupe in 1493. It was nicknamed the "pina" since it looked very much like a pinecone and brought to Spain. Sir Walter Raleigh was also very interested in the pineapple which he affectionately termed as the princess fruit. The interest in bringing this fruit into Europe then began. However, the Europeans were not sure how to grow the fruit and its arrival into Europe only began around the late 16th Century taking the Europeans almost two long centuries to study and grow this much desired fruit. Once in Europe, this delicious fruit eventually wove its way into Holland and England. The English society was very impressed with the first pineapple created by the Royal Gardener, Mr John Rose for Charles II that it also inspired Hendrick Danckerts to paint the picture of the presentation of the fruit in 1675. The much celebrated pineapple was then grown in India and spread to China and in 1777, made available in the Pacific Islands through Captain Cook.

Pine Apples

The Inspiration of the Pineapple: The English who were overwhelmed with the lovely pineapple fruit drew inspiration from its looks and unique shape. As a result, the pineapple fruit inspired the coat of arms and was used as an architectural element in pottery and planters. The artistic appeal and decorative effect that the pineapple fruit rendered were significant and the pineapple symbol inspired bed posts, tablecloths, napkins and napkin holders as well as bookends and candle holders. The symbol of this cherished fruit grew to be represented on any form of decorations that were visibly displayed for guests to enjoy and feel welcomed. Even till today, the pineapple fruit raises much interest in states like Virginia, Hawaii and Florida where the use of pineapple themed accessories and gifts are instrumental in highlighting the peace loving and hospitable people who reside within.

The Medicinal Powers of the Pineapple: The pineapple is also credited with possessing healing powers and records indicate that its tasty juice was used for curing throat infections, arthritis, bronchitis and indigestion. The use of the pineapple for the treatment of diseases was however confined to the natives who originally grew them. It is not certain as to whether this fruit was used for any healing purposes in colonial America. Modern studies also confirms that the fruit contains an enzyme known as "bromelain" which may be used in the treatment of heart disease, combating sinus congestion and also be used in the treatment of urinary tract infections. Fresh pineapple is loaded with Vitamin C and speeds up tissue growth and repair. Worthy of note however is that bromelain is contained in fresh pineapple and canning appears to destroy this enzyme but not the Vitamin C content.

The Entry of the Pineapple into the Americas: Colonists began importing this delicious fruit from the Caribbean in the 17th Century and it soon took root as one of the revered and lavish fruits known available to the wealthy. Since it was difficult to bring in this fruit into the country given that the trade routes where this fruit was procured was considered dangerous, it was considered a marked achievement to bring forth such a rare fruit for the guests. That occasion was almost always reserved for the wealthy class to partake and enjoy but there was also occasion when the pineapple was rented to elevate a person's rank in society for showing the ability in bringing to the table such an expensive fruit for display. The pineapple fruit then eventually began to take on a new meaning as a symbol of warmth and friendliness. It was the crowning piece used for the large displays of food that the wealthy brought forth to the table. The hostess took much pain and trouble in elevating her family's social status in colonial American society by introducing pineapple displays as it indicated a resourcefulness in engaging a unique display of food for all to admire and share. History records that New England sea captains would impale a pineapple outside their homes on gateposts or on their front doors as a symbol of safe return after returning from perilous trade routes in the Caribbean or Pacific. Today, commercial production of pineapples is credited in the state of Hawaii and Florida where Hawaii is notably one of the world's largest producers of canned pineapples.

The Use of the Pineapple Theme in Decorating: Even till today, Americans continue to show interest in decorating the home with pineapple designs. Not only are pineapple designs prevalent in the home in places like the foyer and living areas as well as kitchen, they are also visibly displayed in the form of pineapple finials on gateposts or as fountains for the garden. The use of pineapple plaques highlighted with the warm, inviting words "Welcome to our Home" has become a common sight. Virginia still continues to be one of the primary states that ardently displays pineapple motifs and designs in many of their household accessories, still highlighting the pineapple symbol as the highest form of hospitality rendered. The pineapple symbol is also an accent that is strongly welcomed by their hospitality industry where displays of pineapple themed fixtures and decorations on wall papers and furniture, are legendary. Virginia highlights many tourist destinations that imbibe the use of the pineapple into its architectural landscape. The Shirley Plantation highlights 3.5 feet of wooden pineapple constructed in the late 1700s on the peak of the roof line as a show of hospitality and as an invitation to river travelers coming to the plantation. The establishment also highlights the use of beautiful pineapple motifs within its premises.

No one can therefore dispense the historical, social and economic impact of the pineapple fruit which was once compared to the pinecone. While the production of pineapples have fueled the economies for the states of Florida and Hawaii, the symbolic designs and good looks of the pineapple has also led to much inspiration in decorating concepts and designs using unique pineapple themed accessories for the home and garden. The pineapple also continues to inspire the hospitality industry in many of these states which were responsible for providing this fruit to the rest of the Americas, highlighting the deep meaning attached to the symbol of the pineapple.

Pineapple Tree - 4 Mistakes You Can Make While Growing Them

Author: Yuri // Category: , ,

Pineapples despite the common misconception have nothing to do with a pineapple tree if the word tree is taken strictly. They are not hard to grow though, and while the bush doesn't make the garden shine up in the first year, the flowers it has and the fruit in the second year makes it worth it.

Pineapples grow on bushes, about 3-4 feet in height and diameter, and the fruit is a compound of a bunch of flowers. Growing this plant is particularly easy if you know the ins and outs, but there are a few mistakes to avoid.

Pine Apples

1. Choosing unripe fruit to grow at first is a rather bad move. Always go for golden or yellow bark because that is what differentiates the ripe fruit from the one that is not ready for it yet. Unripe pineapples are also poisonous and cause mouth and throat burning, and severe diarrhea. Do not under any circumstances eat this fruit green.

2. Too moist soil will make the leaves and the fruit rot. For the best possible results go for sandy and relatively dry soil, and dry the fruit and leaves too, before fitting it into the ground. Water is needed for proper growth but too much promotes fungi and fungal attacks. Fungi are deadly to the small plant, avoid letting it fall victim to them.

3. Over-watering kills the plant. Do not do it. After you cut the crown leaves with about two inches of fruit and dry them for a week you need to fit it into dry soil. Only water when the surrounding sand feels dry to the touch. Pineapple bushes drink way more water through their leaves than they do through roots, a sprinkler may come handy for the task of giving water to the growing bush.

4. Eating the fruit when it's not completely ripe yet. It causes all kinds of problems, you might have already come across them. Mouth burning is just one of the symptoms, severe diarrhea is another, more serious one. Wait until the fruit is yellow or dark yellow. Some are golden when they're ready for human consumption.

The pineapple 'tree' is biannual, it grows its leaves in the first year, which is not at all spectacular, but in the second year you can cash in on compliments, because the flowers look wonderful. They are easy to grow and do well indoors, you just have to avoid a few common mistakes.

Make Exciting Homemade Carp Boilies Using Strawberries Pineapples and Bananas!

Author: Yuri // Category: , , , , ,

You can make very cheap highly successful carp baits that work instantly on a range of carp waters that exploit the attraction of their strong natural flavours! Real strawberry, pineapple and banana are well proven flavours so why not make your own unique versions of really successful homemade boilies using real fruit with all their benefits?! Read on to find out more!

It may not surprise you to find that actual fruits themselves catch carp, and examples range from putting strawberries, blackberries and acai berries on your rig, to the old UK favourites like elderberries, and in the states, mulberries. I find acai berries catch carp and tempt other species too. Carp have been caught on banana chunks too. So fruits are not always unusual foods to carp; blackberries and elderberries and mulberries etc if beside water when ripe may fall into the water and be eaten by carp.

Pine Apples

There are many flavour components in some of the most common fruits that are used in synthetic flavour production. Producing artificial or nature-identical type flavours seem to be much more of a goal for bait companies today than in the past, when they often relied most upon any of a range of solvent based flavours. Because carp can become wary of familiar bait substances that have hooked them previously and that are easily detected it is a good idea to make your baits using a natural and subtle approach, which is where using natural flavours comes in which lack a solvent base.

So to begin making the most basic of natural fruit flavour carp baits you will need some fruit. Obviously you might start with the fruits mentioned or use others and the choice is entirely yours. You might go for plums, cranberries, loganberries, apricots, blueberries, apple, or some more exotic fruits such as guava, papaya and mango for instance.

Carp find it easy to detect things called organic acids and other compounds found in fruit. A very familiar example of this is called butyric acid. Fruit flavours develop inside the fruit as it ripens and the riper the fruit, the richer and deeper the flavour profile becomes. In many ways this reflects the maturing of wines and mature beverages, and even the natural development of maple syrup flavours, and tones and aromas through the spring.

The profile impacts and effects are what you will notice between tasting natural strawberry and a cheaper solvent-based flavour. The real fruit will contain the full flavour profile but the cheap synthetic flavour will not, plus the real fruit contains all kinds of potentially catch-improving beneficial active compounds that synthetic flavours lack.

You might also use tinned fruits if you cannot get fresh fruit and these come in their own natural juice or in syrups for instance. Syrups are getting more popular now as people try to get more of a subtle flavour in their baits. In fact, mixing concentrated flavours with honey is just one way of ensuring it will be much more subtle-hitting and this produces unusual perfume smells, tastes and aromas too.

I recommend you use a liquidiser to turn you fruit into a puree and yes fruit purees work too. For example, raspberry puree is something I have used as part of my alternative flavouring in some of my more conventional boilie and paste baits. We do not need to get technical in making this basic bait; the attraction really is coming from the natural fruits and not much else.

Work on using approximately a quarter to a third of your bait as the liquidised or mashed fruit proportion. The riper your fruits used the better and for instance I will use fully ripened bananas that are going black as these have developed much more flavour and higher levels of attractive sugars and alcohol. With bananas like these the smell is very much like some common solvent based fruit flavours but instead of your flavour being mostly solvent with a little extra natural fruit flavour added for example your banana flavour is the genuine full profile natural fruit that carp very rarely experience!

In terms of proportions you might go for a liquid mixture of 2 thirds fruit to 1 third eggs and the eggs will enable you to bind your bait so you can make boilies or more resilient paste or dough baits. Use a meal or flour to bind your fruit into dough or paste or to make homemade boilies.

You can go the really cheap route and use ordinary wheat flour and this makes soft more soluble stickier fishing baits that really leach out flavours fast. I recommend you use semolina or maize flour or meal to make your baits harder and less sticky. These 2 ingredients are not really quite soluble unlike when using fine wheat flour in baits which break down faster in solution but there are very good reasons for using faster-dissolving baits!

All you do to make baits is create your fruit puree, and add any liquids you like to this mixture. This includes your proportion of eggs if you wish to use liquid egg instead of egg powders. Ensure you very thoroughly mix your liquids together well; again, the food mixer or liquidiser is idea and when using eggs you can simply put the whole egg in and let the mixer break it up (the shell will do no harm to the bait and breaks up easily in mixers.)

An unusual mixture is of very ripe apple, pear and really ripe mango. Adding a generous dose of cinnamon to such a mix would work very well. If you use egg powder instead of using fresh eggs, then add about a 10 percent proportion of egg powder to your dry binder or dry powders mix. When using egg powder you will get boilies that are firmer right through so they will be more resilient although less water-soluble.

To sweeten your baits even more to improve bait palatability, I recommend using Ccmoore Ultrasweet which is a unique intense sweetener with no nasty back-taste. Use about 2 millilitres or even 3 millilitres for very cold conditions. (To boost your bait you can add a proportion of a highly quality bulk protein ingredient such as poultry protein meal to your dry binding ingredients.)

Add your dry powder to your liquid gradually. This way you can adjust how dry or wet your dough or paste will become so you can adjust things. Once something like a firm bread dough type consistency is reached your bait is ready. If you want to give your baits some sort of added extra boost because you lack initial confidence, try adding some pure betaine to your mixture; a minimal amount of 1 grams of pure betaine or betaine HCL is easily enough to improve feeding response. I find that the betaine HCL from Carpfishingpellets (see online,) is a very productive product indeed!

You can use your bait fresh or bag it up and label it and place it in the fridge a few days before fishing, or just freeze so it is ready for future sessions. There are many benefits and big reasons for using homemade baits besides using readymade baits (if you really insist on spending the money on readymade baits that is!) In any case, using alternative homemade baits very much improves your chances if you are addicted to using readymade baits, as using the 2 together is extremely well proven for big fish catches!

Fruity baits have always been successful in cooler temperatures so as autumn, winter and spring baits they are ideal. Plus simple fruit baits of many forms are much easier for carp to digest in low water temperatures. Fruit powders have been an important part of commercial bait development and powdered fruit flavours are in big demand too.

I normally make a note of the liquid and dry amounts of additves, ingredients etc I use. This is so I can easily repeat the same bait in the future and this becomes much more critically vital in the case of more complexly-designed baits! (It is not an ideal situation to be in to discover your have made one of the most productive boilies you have ever used and not be able to repeat it ever again!)

If you do not have a food mixer or liquidiser then just a tough metal fork and gradually mash your fruits down into pulp and use as above. Using a large bowl or pan is absolutely fine. Most of my bait making is done using these as I like to make really dense baits which tend to contain less air than most baits and are heavier than most conventional readymade baits. I really believe this makes carp work harder when feeding on them and makes hooking more fish easier for various reasons; it works!

Placing small marble sized balls of paste into boiling water for a minute will produce boilies; just take them out immediately and dry them off on clean absorbent surface like a towel just for the job or even use cardboard boxes! To steam them I use a pressure cooker. This form of cooking is much faster, makes more potent baits as less flavour are leached out for instance and it is cleaner too. Natural fruit baits are just one idea for cheap and successful homemade boilies, pellets and pastes ideal for autumn and winter carp fishing. (For more information see my website and biography right now!)

Pineapple and Coconut Fritters - Perfect Tropical Party Food

Author: Yuri // Category: , , , ,

When throwing a tropical themed party such as a Hawaiian Luau, a Samoan Fia Fia, or just a humble Beach Party or Watermelon Bust, nothing says tropical more than pineapples and coconuts, sweet and juicy fresh and raw, but even juicier when warm and crunchy. The following recipe calls for shallow frying, but if you're out in the open, you could also just throw them on the barbeque.

For this recipe you will need:

Pine Apples

880g canned pineapple or a large fresh pineapple.
1/4 cup plain flour
2 eggs, lightly beaten
3 cups fresh white bread crumbs
1/2 cup shredded coconut
1/3 cup raw sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Canola oil, for shallow-frying

Method:

If using fresh pineapple, cut into 5mm slices.

Remove moisture from pineapple slices by placing on a paper towel, use a second sheet if necessary to make them as dry as possible.

While the pineapple is being drained of its juices wiz the bread in a food processor until it has formed fine crumbs.

Combine the bread crumbs with the coconut, cinnamon and sugar in bowl.

Place the flour on a large plate.

Beat two eggs in a bowl.

Now take the pineapple slices and dip first in the flour, then eggs, then bread crumb mixture, pressing on with fingertips.

Place oil in pan about 1cm deep and heat.

Cook fritters a few at a time spooning hot oil over them for 5 to 6 minutes or until golden. Drain excess oil on paper towels.

Serve on their own for a yummy finger food or make a dessert out of them by serving with vanilla ice cream and chocolate or caramel sauce. Yum!

A Simple Pineapple Corer Question And Answer Guide

How to Tell When Fruit is Ripe

Author: Yuri // Category:

If you learned to cook from your mother, do you wonder why she never told you the one all-purpose way to tell when fruit is ripe and ready to eat? That's because there isn't one. There are more than 50 different species of fruit, and they all mature in different ways.

Bananas and avocados are picked green and ripen off the tree. Most varieties of pears can be picked when full-sized but still green and very firm. Place them in a warm place and they ripen in a few days. Nectarines and plums can be picked when colorful but still very firm. They will ripen to your desired amount of firmness or softness after a few days at room temperature. Oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruit won't ripen after being picked from the tree. Most pineapples in the United States and Canada are from Hawaii. These pineapples have a golden yellow tan or reddish orange color when ripe. The golden color starts at the bottom. The upper part of the pineapple may be green but the further the golden color rises up the pineapple, the sweeter it will be. The true test for ripeness in all pineapples is to look at the bottom of the fruit. A yellow color breaking through the bottom indicates that sugar has developed in the pineapple and is ready to eat. If no yellow color exists, the sugar has not developed and the pineapple will not be sweet. Most peaches taste best from late June through August. At farm stands, aroma is an indicator. Fruit should smell as good as it tastes. Ripe cantaloupe should give a sweet aroma when sniffed where the stem was attached. But scent doesn't always work in supermarkets, since refrigeration stunts the bouquet. Apples are crisp and flavorful when full-sized and when they display the identifying color of their variety. Most apples mature during the Autumn months of September and October. There are also a few Summer varieties. Color is also a tip-off with certain fruits. Ripe peaches have a rich, yellowish undertone, as do cantaloupes, while watermelons should have a whitish yellow color on the underbelly side. They should also resonate when slapped, like a musical instrument. Strawberries, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries are ripe and should be picked when the berry shows a rich, even color with no white spots. Grapes are harvested when fully ripe yet firm. Use color as a guide to the sweetness of the fruit. Green grapes should have a yellow cast or straw color with a touch of amber, when fully ripe. Red grapes should be a deep crimson, not a milky or pale red. Blue grapes should be darkly hued, almost black, not pale or tinged with green. Grapes should be plump. You can always judge the freshness of grapes by the stem. The greener the stem, the fresher the grapes.

Pine Apples

Fresh fruit provides Vitamin A (apha-carotene, beta-carotene and retinol), Vitamin C, most of the B Vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, folate and folic acid), and fiber.

Frozen grapes are a great, nutritious snack for kids. Put Red Flame or other seedless grapes on a tray in the freezer. When frozen, put them in a resealable plastic bag and return then to the freezer. Then kids can have sweet, frozen snacks anytime.

Prepare a fresh fruit salad by mixing your choice of fruit cut into cubes or balls. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator as the juices blend. No dressing is required. My favorite fruit salad combination is grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, and strawberries.

For a simple but delicious dip for fruit mix equal amounts of whipped topping, marshmallow fluff, and fruit-flavored yogurt. Lime, lemon, orange, and strawberry yogurt taste great with fresh fruit.

Stuffed Pineapple Boats

This is a fun tropical recipe for special guests or a backyard luau.

2 small to medium pineapples

1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger or 1/3 teaspoon Watkins Ground Ginger

12 to 16 ounces roasted chicken breast meat, cut into 1/2-inch cubes

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

1 teaspoon Watkins Orange Extract

1 tablespoon almond or walnut oil

1 cup diced celery

Salt to taste

2 tablespoons sliced, toasted almonds

2 tablespoons shredded coconut

1 teaspoon minced jalapeño pepper

First hollow each pineapple. Cut pineapples in half lengthwise through crown and leaves. Remove the inner core by making a V cut underneath it, then lifting it out. With a short, sharp knife, cut all around the inside of the fruit leaving a 1/2 inch thick rim all around. Lift out the fruit inside the cavity and cut into 1/2-inch cubes or ball shapes. The attached leaves add to the decoration. To keep the boat from rocking, it may be necessary to cut a thin slice from the bottom of each half. You should have about 6 cups of cut up pineapple. Save any juice for the dressing as you work. Squeeze out juice from any bits of extra pineapple to extract more juice. You should have about 1/4 cup juice. If serving immediately combine pineapple with chicken, celery, almonds, and jalapeño in a mixing bowl. Combine ginger, vinegar, orange extract, oil, salt, and reserved pineapple juice in a separate bowl. Pour over salad mixture and mix well. Put boats on large plates. Stuff each with 1/4 of the salad mixture and sprinkle with coconut. Serve immediately. Makes 4 servings.

If you are entertaining a group of guests choose a large pineapple for a serving dish, add salad mixture to pineapple halves, and let guests serve themselves.

Cooking Tip

To prepare this dish in advance, mix all ingredients except chicken. Stir in the chicken just before serving. The acids and enzymes in the pineapple turn the meat to mush after a few hours. Turkey or pork tenderloin may be used in place of chicken in this recipe.

Why Dogs Eat Poop

Author: Yuri // Category:

Have a problem with your dog eating poop? Okay, let's cut to the chase. Watching dogs eat poop is disgusting. So is the thought of the bacteria that spread to everything they lick after doing that!

Some people do not realize that feces contain ecoli, which is deadly bacteria. So think about what happens after dogs eat poop. What do they do with their contaminated tongues and mouths? Lick you?

Pine Apples

What if your dog steals food and licks your counter or plate? These places are now contaminated. If they are not properly cleaned, you may eat from them and get ecoli in your system.

Wonder why dogs eat poop?

There are many reasons for which dogs eat their poop. One is that their mother eats the feces of the pups until they are old enough to come out of the den. If she did not do this, predators would locate and kill the pups in no time.

Dogs also eat it because they were left alone too much, and perhaps all they had to eat on for entertainment was their poop. This is one reason why you really need to be sure the breeder from whom you purchase takes good care of the pups. Puppies develop very bad habits very quickly, and have to be supervised at all times. It's easy for them to adapt to your routine, but it's also easy for them to create their own.

Poor nutrition is yet another reason for this disgusting habit. Put your dog on an all-natural food, so he does not feel the need to increase his nutrients by eating poop.

So what else can you do to stop dog eating poop?

Now that you have some understanding of the problem and the health risks, here are three of the better alternative ways to cure the problem:

1. Feed your dog fresh pineapple (not canned). He will love the fruit, but his poop will taste really bad to him once he eats that.

2. Claim the space if he tries to eat his poop. To "claim," you straighten yourself up like a proud soldier, shoulders and head up, eye contact on the pup the entire time throughout this exercise. Stand between him and the spot, with feet spread halfway between the military "At ease" and "Atten-hut!" Remember, hold the eye contact. When the puppy lies down and turns away (or walks away), you may walk away from the spot, because he has now surrendered the area to you.

3. Clean up the dog poop each time he goes.

There is another solution to stop dog eating poop. It's not a favorite of mine, because if your timing is off, you could make your dog afraid to go poop. So ALWAYS let him finish before doing this. If he turns around to eat his poop, squeeze something loud (like a bike horn). Dogs hate that noise! It will make him afraid to go near the mess.

For some dogs, a squirt of water works well. But, you have to be very careful that you only use it in serious correction times, or the dog may really come to like it. My friend messed that up, and her dog stands with his mouth open when she gets the water gun.

As they say, there is more than one way to skin a cat!

So evaluate your pup against these reasons why dogs eat poop and try the suggested remedies. One of them is sure to work for you to stop dog eating poop.

What Are 5 Good Energy Foods Or Vegetables?

Author: Yuri // Category: ,

Many of us find that we are a bit low on energy, especially if we are dieting or we have had weight loss surgery. Dieting seems to take a lot out of us because we are consuming less food, we are not taking in caffeine like we used to, and there is also the fact that the body can be deprived of certain nutrients. Although many dieters feel that they are eating the right foods, the question is if they are eating enough of the right foods and if they are taking a dietary supplement to help them along.

The dietary supplement

Pine Apples

A good dietary supplement is great to take each day so that you can have more energy. However, it cannot work alone in providing your body with the natural nutrients it needs to create an adequate amount of energy to help you through your day.

However, a good supplement that will help you along will contain Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamins B6 and B12, Folate, Biotin, Pantothenic Acid, Calcium, Iron, and Phosphorus. Some supplements are now including tri-Amino blends that include L-Taurine, L-lutamine, and L-Carnitine. These are great for helping provide a little extra energy.

Foods

And now that you know a dietary supplement can't do it all on its own, it is very important that you be made aware of 5 good energy foods and vegetables that will help in providing you with the energy you need. It doesn't matter if you are on a weight loss mission, have had weight loss surgery such as lap band, or if you just want to have more energy, these are foods that you should eat because they work in making you healthier.

Those 5 foods are:

1. Wheat and barley - Anything containing these two food items will be high in energy. This explains why runners and other athletes will eat pasta the day before a competitive event. However, this is not something that you should eat a lot of. You must portion this. If you have had weight loss surgery such as lap band, this is something that your doctor will review with you.

2. Fruits - Take into consideration that the earth bears fruit and fruit is good for us. High energy fruits include bananas, strawberries, and pineapples.

3. Vegetables - Amongst vegetables, some of the most high energy foods and great for those on weight loss endeavors are green leafy vegetables. Cabbage and spinach have been pinned as the two that create the highest degree of energy.

4. Chicken - Chicken is high in protein and is great for weight loss. However, it must be skinless chicken or it will defeat the purpose.

5. Yogurt - Dairy is the tricky one for the fact that it is the dairy foods that are high in fat that provide the most energy. However, you can have yourself a cup of yogurt and provide yourself with some extra energy. There are dairy products out there that will enable you to energize and still achieve weight loss.

A balanced diet

It mainly comes down to having a balanced diet. If you have lap band surgery or another weight loss surgery, your doctor will talk to you about portions and eating the right foods. Even if you are trying to lose weight the old fashioned way, the success lies in the foods that you eat. You also have to exercise. These two things make for a super weapon against weight gain. In the meantime, you will shed the pounds and have the energy to do it, which means a better quality of life for you.

What Are 5 Good Energy Foods Or Vegetables?

CIBO Clinic offers safe and sustainable results for weight loss surgery. The Lap Band reduces the amount of food your stomach can hold and allows you to feel fuller longer. When doing research about weight loss options, you might consider adjustable gastric banding.

Heartburn Foods - Uncover What's Right and Which Ones to Avoid Like the Plague

Author: Yuri // Category: , , ,

Let's face it. Acid reflux is a problem that is becoming more and more common with each passing day. Stressful lifestyles, lack of exercise, high junk food intake - they all contribute to this painful condition. Can heartburn foods help in providing relief from it? Let's find out.

Here's the thing. When it comes to heartburn foods, even making some simple changes in your diet can work wonders in lessening the severity of the problem. It may not completely cure your reflux, but will surely create a base to work on further.

Pine Apples

The one big reason behind heartburn is - an over production of digestive acids in the stomach. There are some kinds of foods that increase this production, and some foods that are themselves acidic in nature and so magnify the acid content in the stomach.

For example, all citrus fruits are high in acidic content. So if you eat tomatoes, oranges, pine apples and lemon based foods, then the acid in your stomach will spike and can cause reflux quickly. This doesn't mean you stop eating fruits. You can get a lot of nutrients from non-acidic fruits too so you can continue eating them regularly.

Dairy products like milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream etc. also contribute to more acid production in the stomach. Low fat or skimmed milk and yogurt are still much better choices here.

Fried and fatty foods such as fries and burgers take more time to digest and stay in the stomach longer. This causes more acid to be produced which in turn leads to overflow of the acid out of the stomach. These foods are anyway devoid of nutrients, so you will benefit from avoiding them as much as you can.

Caffeinated drinks as well as alcoholic drinks, both lead to increase in the acid content in the stomach.

Cutting down the intake of these heartburn foods is the first step to take to reduce your reflux symptoms.

Next, you need to take steps to solve this problem permanently. If left unchecked, then the acid can damage your stomach lining and cause inflammation in the esophagus. Over a period of time this can degenerate into cancer too. As they say, a stitch in time saves nine.

So start now and implement a holistic program that not only focuses on the heartburn foods you should eat, the right quantity, as well as the right exercises for strengthening the stomach muscles which help in better control over the flow of acid. To know where you can find such a detailed, effective program, visit my website now.

Sore Throat - Soothe Your Sore Throat Naturally

Author: Yuri // Category: , ,

When flu season is upon us, other viruses circulating in our communities contribute to cold symptoms such as sore throats, which make us feel cranky and uncomfortable.

Since viruses are the major cause of sore throats, there are no medications to alleviate them, however, there are certain natural remedies that will make your sore throat feel better while your body fights off the infection.

First of all, stay hydrated. If your sore throat is accompanied by other upper respiratory symptoms, such as runny nose, nasal congestion, or cough, drink chicken broth a couple times a day. Recent research confirmed what moms always told us about chicken soup: it definitely helps when we're sick! According to the scientific findings, chicken broth thins mucus in the respiratory system, stops excessive mucus production, and relieves nasal congestion. Therefore, chicken broth will lessen coughing and might decrease postnasal drip that often results in a sore throat.

Excessive coughing can also cause a sore throat. Since cough medications are ineffective in battling the cough, reach for honey. Any honey will do, however, researchers studied buckwheat honey and announced that it is more effective in cough control than dextromethorphan, the DM component of over-the-counter cough suppressants. I recommend that my patients take 1 teaspoon of honey 4 times a day. It can be eaten off the spoon, ingested with warm water or tea with lemon, or drizzled on toast with butter, pancakes, or graham crackers. (Note: honey should not be given to children younger than 1 year as it may cause botulism).

Consider these remedies to relive your sore throat:

Gargle with chamomile tea--it has anti-inflammatory properties.

Drink orange juice. It might sting, but the vitamin C will numb your throat instantaneously.

Munch on raw almonds. They contain an aspirin-like compound that works wonders, not only to relieve migraine headaches, but also sore throats.

Eat fresh or canned pineapple. Pineapple contains bromelain, an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties.

Sip on a warm tea with honey and lemon. Honey will coat your throat and the lemon juice will quickly numb it.

If your sore throat persists beyond 3-4 days, or is accompanied by a fever, rash, or bad headache, you have a difficult time swallowing your saliva, or you choke on food, see your health care provider ASAP.
