Exotic fruits are very delicious and healthy. But did you know you could lose weight with their help. Pineapple, mango, papaya and all fruits can help you lose those extra pounds. According to some nutritionists one of the most popular ways to lose weight is using the pineapple diet.

Pineapples contain some substances that help your body melt the fat away. Many weight loss pills and products contain pineapples extracts. Before you go out and buy a truckload of pineapples, I must warn you that not all people succeed to lose weight with the pineapple diet. Some people lose a lot of weight, some don't lose any weight and the majority lose a little weight. It all depends on your metabolism. But it's worth to try. Especially if you like pineapples.

Papaya is another sworn enemy of fat. Some even consider papaya the fruit of the XXI century because it contains lots of vitamins. Everybody could use more vitamins in their diet. Vitamins are very healthy and have many benefits for your health. A healthy body will burn more calories and fats daily.

If you are suspicious of all these exotic fruits or you don't like them, you can always eat grapefruits. Grapefruits are widely used in many weight loss diets. I myself used them to lose a couple of pounds with fabulous results. I like grapefruits and oranges and I eat them almost daily.

You could also try using berries in your weight loss diets. They are tasty and good for your health. Japanese nutritionists recommend the use of black currants in any weight loss diet. They recommend you eat a cup of black currants 30 minutes before each meal. They claim that the black currants will at least help you maintain your weight if not lose a couple of pounds.

All fruits are good in any diet. I don't believe there are many diets in which you cannot squeeze in some fruits as light snacks. If you get into the habit of always having fruits in your fridge or in the office you will never binge eat again. You will always have something healthy to snack on. That way you will lose weight or maintain it.

Have you noticed how competitive parties have become? It seems that each parent goes out of their way to make their child's party better than any other of their friends. They are becoming so extravagant that it is hard to recognize as being a children's party.

You have decided to have a party; you want it to be frugal and green. You want it to be a day that every guest will always remember. What are the things that you must consider to make your part environmentally friendly, economical and fun, all at the same time? It is a question that a lot of us are asking. The answers are probably the same issues that we face daily such as: local business and produce; reusing; recycling; organic food and drink; reducing gas and electric consumption. These would just be the main issues and we haven't considered the cost at this early stage. These same issues will apply regardless of what occasion the party is celebrating and the age group for the party guests.

Location: The party should be in a location that is close and convenient to all, or most of the invited guests to avoid little travel. Flying to a party location would be a bad idea environmentally wise.

The basic ingredients for a party are; location; theme; food; clothing; entertainment.

The best party that I have ever attended was given by a couple where the husband was of Hawaiian decent and the wife was Chinese decent. The main theme was Hawaiian with a bit of Chinese entertainment.

As each guest entered they were given an article of clothing to wear. The men were given a flowered Hawaiian shirt. Each shirt had been collected from various Good Will stores and second hand stores, washed and meticulously ironed. The ladies were given leis made of plastic flowers and matching flowers for their hair. Everyone was required to put on their clothing before entering the party. This was quite a laugh and started the proceedings off with great fun.

The food was prepared and served in the Hawaiian method, but consisted of local produce. Pineapples were replaced with chopped apples, peaches and cherries. Little loaves of buttered bread and small cakes, all mainly homemade. Even the ice cream came from the local creamery.

There was no paper products used such as paper plates or cups, and all cutlery was stainless steel. Cloth napkins which had been collected from many sources were readily available for everyone

The entertainment was fantastic with a local ladies' belly dancing troupe, a Hawaiian dancer and records of Elvis and Blue Hawaii. For the Chinese delegation, an actual Chinese dragon dance was performed by some locals, dragon and all.

The hosts were relaxed and made everything fun. Everyone had a wonderful time. The cost was minimal and it was a day that every guest will always remember. The perfect party.

Frozen Ambrosia Cream Squares Dessert Recipe

If you enjoy making frozen-style desserts for your family, I think you will enjoy this easy to make Ambrosia Cream Squares recipe.

This recipe is done in a 4 layer technique. Please read the entire list of ingredients needed before beginning the recipe. Once it has been completed, you will need to place it into the freezer for 2 to 4 hours before serving. If desired, you can garnish the top of it with some fresh pineapple slices or cherries.

Layer 1 Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, softened

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

In a large bowl, cream together the above ingredients in the order that they are given. Press the dough into the bottom of an 8 x 8" square baking pan that has been lightly sprayed with nonstick cooking spray. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes, remove and set aside to cool.

Layer 2 Ingredients:

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 egg, well-beaten

3 cups confectioner's sugar

Melt the butter in the microwave or in a small saucepan. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the melted butter, beaten egg and confectioner's sugar together until creamy. Spread this mixture onto the cooled first layer in the baking dish.

Layer 3 Ingredient:

1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapples

Drain all of the juice from the pineapples. Spread the crushed pineapples over top of the second layer of ingredients in the baking dish.

Layer 4 Ingredients:

1 package of Dream Whip

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons confectioner's sugar

In a small mixing bowl, beat together the package of dream whip, vanilla extract and confectioner's sugar until creamy and smooth. Lightly spread this mixture on top of the third layer in the baking dish.

Cover the dish and place into the freezer. Once the dessert is firm, remove from the freezer and let stand at room temperature for 5 minutes. Cut into squares before serving.

How to Make Kung Pao Chicken

Although I am Korean and have a majority of my articles about Korean food, I thought I would share a recipe on one of my favorite non-Korean dishes, Kung Pao Chicken. Kung Pao Chicken is a Chinese chicken dish that mixes a lot of different vegetables and ingredients to make one uniform flavor. Here is how to make Kung Pao Chicken.
For ingredients, you will need: about 1 lb of boneless chicken breast, white wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, hot chile paste, brown sugar, green onions, carrots, water chestnuts, peanuts, and pineapples.

First, we will have to prepare all the ingredients. The great thing about this dish is that you can chop the ingredients roughly into any sized piece that you want. For this dish, we will make it bite-sized so that it is easier to eat.

Pine Apples

First we will make the marinade for the chicken. add a little bit of white wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water and mix it all together. When the mixture is done, add in the chicken and toss it so all the chicken gets evenly coated. Let the chicken sit in the marinade for about half an hour.

Now it's time to make the sauce for the Kung Pao Chicken. Add in all the ingredients for the marinade as well as chile paste, vinegar, and sugar. Also, add in the chopped vegetables, the peanuts, and the pineapples. Then, get a frying pan, or wok if you have one, on medium-low heat and cook the sauce until it starts to thicken.

While you are making the sauce, take the chicken out of the marinade and cook it in a frying pan until the meat is white. Once the chicken looks like it is done, add the sauce to the chicken and fry it all together.

When you are done, you will get a very aromatic chicken dish that almost everyone will enjoy. As always, there are many different variations of how to make kung pao chicken, and it's all up to you to determine what will taste the best.

What Does the Pineapple Symbolize?

The influence of the pineapple fruit is apparent in the enchanting array of decorations available that use the pineapple form as part of its creation. We hear of architectural elements like pineapple pedestals, pineapple brackets and corbels as well as pineapple wall sculptures, and of its use in the kitchen in the form of pineapple napkin holders and trivets as well as bookends to grace your desk and library with hospitality and an air of friendliness and warmth. The pineapple has indeed a colorful history spanning from colonial times and is today heralded as the princess of fruits and credited as the symbol of hospitality and welcome. To give the pineapple as a gift conveys your intention to promote friendliness and graciousness to the recipient. The pineapple began initially as the fruit of the wealthy and guests were revered and charmed when a pineapple was placed amidst their presence in the dining area for that indicated the amount of respect and consideration the hostess besot upon them. The Origin of the Pineapple: The pineapple fruit may have originated from Brazil and Paraguay in South America where it reportedly received a boost into the European markets through Christopher Columbus who discovered the pineapple fruit in Guadeloupe in 1493. It was nicknamed the "pina" since it looked very much like a pinecone and brought to Spain. Sir Walter Raleigh was also very interested in the pineapple which he affectionately termed as the princess fruit. The interest in bringing this fruit into Europe then began. However, the Europeans were not sure how to grow the fruit and its arrival into Europe only began around the late 16th Century taking the Europeans almost two long centuries to study and grow this much desired fruit. Once in Europe, this delicious fruit eventually wove its way into Holland and England. The English society was very impressed with the first pineapple created by the Royal Gardener, Mr John Rose for Charles II that it also inspired Hendrick Danckerts to paint the picture of the presentation of the fruit in 1675. The much celebrated pineapple was then grown in India and spread to China and in 1777, made available in the Pacific Islands through Captain Cook.

The Inspiration of the Pineapple: The English who were overwhelmed with the lovely pineapple fruit drew inspiration from its looks and unique shape. As a result, the pineapple fruit inspired the coat of arms and was used as an architectural element in pottery and planters. The artistic appeal and decorative effect that the pineapple fruit rendered were significant and the pineapple symbol inspired bed posts, tablecloths, napkins and napkin holders as well as bookends and candle holders. The symbol of this cherished fruit grew to be represented on any form of decorations that were visibly displayed for guests to enjoy and feel welcomed. Even till today, the pineapple fruit raises much interest in states like Virginia, Hawaii and Florida where the use of pineapple themed accessories and gifts are instrumental in highlighting the peace loving and hospitable people who reside within.

How to Make Kung Pao Chicken

Although I am Korean and have a majority of my articles about Korean food, I thought I would share a recipe on one of my favorite non-Korean dishes, Kung Pao Chicken. Kung Pao Chicken is a Chinese chicken dish that mixes a lot of different vegetables and ingredients to make one uniform flavor. Here is how to make Kung Pao Chicken.
For ingredients, you will need: about 1 lb of boneless chicken breast, white wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, hot chile paste, brown sugar, green onions, carrots, water chestnuts, peanuts, and pineapples.

First, we will have to prepare all the ingredients. The great thing about this dish is that you can chop the ingredients roughly into any sized piece that you want. For this dish, we will make it bite-sized so that it is easier to eat.

First we will make the marinade for the chicken. add a little bit of white wine, soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, and water and mix it all together. When the mixture is done, add in the chicken and toss it so all the chicken gets evenly coated. Let the chicken sit in the marinade for about half an hour.

Now it's time to make the sauce for the Kung Pao Chicken. Add in all the ingredients for the marinade as well as chile paste, vinegar, and sugar. Also, add in the chopped vegetables, the peanuts, and the pineapples. Then, get a frying pan, or wok if you have one, on medium-low heat and cook the sauce until it starts to thicken.

While you are making the sauce, take the chicken out of the marinade and cook it in a frying pan until the meat is white. Once the chicken looks like it is done, add the sauce to the chicken and fry it all together.

When you are done, you will get a very aromatic chicken dish that almost everyone will enjoy. As always, there are many different variations of how to make kung pao chicken, and it's all up to you to determine what will taste the best.

Reduced Sugar Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Cherry Pie Cheesecake Dessert Recipes

Let me share with you some more of my fast, easy, sugar-free and reduced sugar recipes. I've been experimenting for years to find good tasting recipes. Growing up, I remember my mom wishing for more sugar-free items to use when cooking and baking. Now we have many innovative (and good tasting) sugar-free and reduced sugar products. I just love being able to look at a recipe and in my mind recreate it sugar free or as close as possible to sugar-free. Diabetics need to remember that a certain amount of sugar or natural sweetener is OK.

Here's one to blow your mind. Reduced Sugar Pineapple Upside Down Cake.
Melt 1/4 cup butter and put in bottom of 9 X 13 baking dish.
Drain one can sliced pineapple in it's own juice.
Reserve juice and arrange pineapple slices in dish.
Place a pecan in each opening of the pineapples.
Mix one jar no sugar added apricot preserves and 1/4 cup reserved pineapple juice.
Spread mixture over pineapples in dish.

Next, using a reduced sugar yellow cake mix, make cake batter. My secret is to add in place of the water one small can mandarin oranges, undrained.
Mix the rest as directed.
Pour batter over glazed pineapples and bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
When cake is out of oven and rested a few minutes, invert onto long serving dish or foil covered jellyroll pan.
Let cool slightly.
Serve warm with sugar-free whipped topping or sugar-free vanilla ice cream.

Another of my family's favorites is my Cherry Pie Cheesecake Dessert.
At your local bakery or supermarket buy a premake no sugar added cherry pie.
Open the package and mix the crust and the filling together and set aside.

Now I know you're thinking that I've totally lost my mind, but stay with me.

In a medium size bowl mix one 8 oz bar cream cheese, 3 T. milk, 1/2 cup sugar substitute and 1/4 t. almond extract until creamy.
In another medium size bowl place one half of the pie you mixed up.
Put one half the cream cheese mixture over that. You don't really need to be too careful about covering every inch of the pie, it all sort of settles together.
Repeat one more time, one half pie, next the rest of the cream cheese mixture.
Open one 8 oz tub sugar free whipped topping and spread it over the layers.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Your guests or family will love the taste and only you'll know how easy it was to make. I've also tried this recipe with no sugar added peach pie and no sugar added apple pie.

Just before serving the apple pie version, I drizzled with whipped topping with sugar free caramel ice cream topping. Delicious and easy! Don't be afraid to experiment yourself.
